The two products leverage PoE, allowing you to deliver internet and power to a connected device through a single Ethernet cable.

Amazon’s home internet Eero brand is getting two new products: a Wi-Fi access point that can connect via Power over Ethernet; and a gateway product that can support eight PoE connections.

The company is releasing(Opens in a new window) the products for home network enthusiasts and businesses looking to streamline their broadband setup. The two devices focus on PoE, which means you can deliver both internet and power to a support device through a single Ethernet cable.

The technology can be handy for powering compatible smart gadgets in the home, such as a security camera, video doorbells, and telephones, by using only the Ethernet cable—no second power line is necessary.

The first product is the Eero PoE 6, which functions as a Wi-Fi 6 access point that can receive internet and power over PoE. It’ll first become available in October for $299.99 through authorized professional installers. Both Amazon.com and select ISP partners in the US and Canada will also sell the device early next year.

Amazon says the Eero PoE 6 can supply up to 2,000 square feet of Wi-Fi coverage while supporting more than 100 connected devices. The device can also offer wireless speeds up to 1.5 gigabits per second.

“It can go almost anywhere Ethernet cable can be pulled—making it easy to flush mount to ceilings and walls,” Amazon says. However, the product is only a dual-band access point instead of a tri-band system like the $229 Eero Pro 6 Wi-Fi mesh system, which doesn’t support PoE.

The second product is the $649.99 Eero PoE Gateway. It features two 10Gbps Ethernet ports and eight 2.5Gbps ports that support PoE. Hence, it can support a range of PoE devices, such as security cameras with 100 watts of power output if used with an included 140-watt power adapter.

Amazon will release the Eero PoE Gateway early next year through select ISP partners in the US and Canada and over Amazon.com. “A list of distributors will be available via eero.com,” the company says.

Editor's note: The release times for the products have been corrected.
